Explosion near busy Asda supermarket injures shoppers and blows out windows as urgent evacuation begins

TWO people have been rushed to hospital after an explosion near a busy Asda supermarket in Dunstable.

The pair were shopping at a nearby newsagents close to the Asda supermarket in the Bedfordshire town and are being treated for flash burns at A&E.

The blast is believed to have blown out shop windows and prompted an urgent evacuation of the area.

Emergency services are at the scene outside the Bedfordshire where roads have been closed and bus services diverted.

The blast is understood to have been after an electrical fan fire ignited some lighter fuel cans, the Daily Express reported.

CentrebusLive tweeted: "Luton Depot 26-10-21 In Dunstable there has been a shop fire/explosion by Asda Dunstable so all services which serve this will not be able to until further notice."
