The family of private investigator Daniel Morgan have welcomed news that a long-awaited report into his murder will be published next month.
The findings on the unsolved killing will be published by the Daniel Morgan Independent Panel on June 15.
Mr Morgan was killed with an axe in the car park of a pub in Sydenham, south-east London, on March 10, 1987.
Despite five police inquiries, no one has been brought to justice over the father-of-two’s death, with the Met Police admitting corruption hampered the original murder investigation.
The panel said that an agreement had been reached with the Home Office that a ‘small team’, including Home Secretary Priti Patel, would be permitted to read the report before its publication.
But Mr Morgan’s family has called on Miss Patel to ‘co-operate with the panel to allow the publication of the report without any further delay’.
