Family of tragic Adam Ellison share torment in new BBC documentary five years after he was stabbed to death on night out

THE heartbroken family of a 29-year-old murdered on a night out have opened up about their torment in a new documentary.

Adam Ellison was stabbed in the neck after a row with two people on a motorbike in Prescot, Merseyside, in November 2017.

Despite 12 arrests and a £24,000 reward, his killer still has never been caught.

His brutal murder will be explored tonight in BBC1 documentary: True Crime: Our Adam.

Adam's defiant mum and sisters have now vowed to "keep fighting for justice" as they issued a fresh appeal for information.

Sister Joanne Evans said catching her brother's killer would allow the family to finally grieve.

Her sibling Nicola Moore told the BBC: "He was horrendously taken from us.

"You want to shout it from the rooftops 'how dare you walk around the streets'.

"You've murdered somebody. People know you have done it. How can they sleep at night?

"If it can happen to Adam – it can happen to anyone."

Mum Joyce Ellison told how she misses "miracle baby" Adam, who was born after she suffered miscarriages, "every day".

She said: "There is a big hole here. It will never be filled again."

Adam had been planning to marry partner Rebecca Cunliffe and was saving for an engagement ring when he was cruelly murdered.

Heartbreaking photos from the night he died showed Adam laughing with his friends at the Old Mill Pub blissfully unaware of what was about to happen.

Chillingly the pillion passenger who inflicted the fatal blow was earlier seen glaring into the pub "as though they were looking for someone".

As they headed "at speed" down Eccleston Street to the junction with Market Place, the killers "literally crossed paths" with Adam.

He shouted at the group, with the passenger then getting off the bike and knifing Adam in the neck.

The Kawasaki bike was last seen entering the Hillside Avenue estate via King George V playing fields and was never seen again.

Detective Chief Inspector Cath Cummings, who is the senior investigating officer on the case, said: "At the end of this year it will be five years since Adam’s death. I know that it has been five difficult years for his family and friends who have tried to come to terms with the sudden, unexpected and shocking loss of a loved one.

"Their agony has been compounded by the fact that, despite an ongoing investigation and a number of lines of enquiry being explored, his killer is still free to walk the streets.

"We know the answer lies in our communities but keeping quiet when you know something is misplaced loyalty that Adam’s killer does not deserve to have.

"Charging someone with Adam’s murder and seeing them go to prison does not bring Adam back but it will mean that this family, who have fought so hard for answers, will finally get the justice they deserve.

"I am sure anyone who has ever met Adam’s family, or who watches the programme this evening, won’t fail to be moved by what they have been through. Time is never a barrier to justice. Please come forward, tell us what you know and help us to help them."
