Four fire crews were sent to rescue a woman who got stuck 18ft up a tree – while trying to retrieve her escaped parrot.
Firefighters used a ladder to bring the woman down to ground level in Woodlands Edge, Trowbridge, on Saturday morning.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service said it was a ‘reminder of the danger’ of people taking matters into their own hands and attempting amateur rescue missions.

A fire service spokesman said: ‘In attendance [the] Trowbridge crew confirmed only one other fire engine was required so a 12-metre ladder could be used to assist the member of the public to safety (File image)
Crews from Trowbridge, Chippenham, Warminster and Devizes were sent to help the woman.
A fire service spokesman said: ‘In attendance [the] Trowbridge crew confirmed only one other fire engine was required so a 12-metre ladder could be used to assist the member of the public to safety.
‘We understand the emotional attachments to pets of any species but please take this incident as a reminder of the danger posed by attempting to rescue without any specialist assistance.’
