A UN envoy has drawn fury after she visited Britain to investigate an alleged spike in hate crime after Brexit.
Law professor Tendayi Achiume says she suspects the vote to leave the EU has made the country more racist.
But pro-Brexit MPs insisted her trip was a "stitch-up" motivated by the "extreme left".
Dr Achiume is a professor at UCLA in California who was recently appointed by the UN to be a "special rapporteur" on racism.
Speaking ahead of her visit which is currently ongoing, she said: "My mission across the country, including stops in London and Belfast, will focus on explicit incidents of racism and related intolerance, as well as attention to structural forms of discrimination and exclusion that may have been exacerbated by Brexit.
“Xenophobic discrimination and intolerance aimed at refugees, migrants and even British racial, religious and ethnic minorities will also be an important focus."
She will compile a report on her experiences and send it to the UN human rights council.
Former Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith told the Daily Mail: "These visits are completely pointless.
"They are politically motivated, they are inspired by the extreme left, and the idea is to kick the UK."
MEP David Campbell Bannerman told The Times: "This visit is completely unnecessary and is nothing but a stitch up by pro-EU campaigners who seek to paint the 17.4million who voted to leave the EU as racist.

Shortly after the EU referendum in June 2016, there were reports of racist attacks inspired by the vote.
But many of the most high-profile events were later debunked as it emerged they weren't actually hate crimes at all.
