A 20-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being accused of murdering his grandmother, Shirley Kidd, at a property west of Melbourne.
Emergency services were called to a home in Darley, near Bacchus Marsh, at about 10.30pm on Saturday.
Shirley Kidd was found with critical injuries and died at the scene on Saturday night.
A police spokeswoman said the 67-year-old woman was found at the scene with critical injuries and died at the scene.
Hayden Kidd, also from Darley, was arrested soon after and later charged with her murder.
He fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court late on Monday. It was his first time in custody, the court heard.
Kidd, wearing a white forensic suit, appeared via video link from the Melbourne West police station and sat with his hands folded in his lap during the brief hearing.
Magistrate Guillaume Bailin said Kidd suffered from PTSD and would be vulnerable in custody due to his young age.
Bailin ordered that Kidd see a custody nurse as soon as possible, remanding him in custody to reappear in court on October 17.
