A property for sale in a trendy London hotspot for celebrities is so run down that companies refuse to mortgage it.

The two-bed terraced house in Hampstead, north west London, is on the market for £785,000 but is so delipidated that it is ‘unmortgageable’, forcing the sellers to put it up for sale in a cash buyers only auction.

Would-be buyers will have to pay the asking price in full if they want to get their hands on the keys to the fixer upper.

While the property comes with two generous gardens in the front and rear, it’s evident that a lot of work needs to be done to make the house habitable.

Images show stripped flooring, and peeling wallpaper in several rooms, including one which has a large hole in the ceiling, exposing the insulating installed above.

A frame for a wardrobe has been left in place collecting dust and behind it appears to be a smaller room, with the brickwork fully exposed.

One room, which features a staircase, has green marks on the floor and dust covered dark red curtains against the window, with more grim and dust on the walls.

And that’s not all that needs to be done, with the spacious garden to the rear in clear need of some TLC, with overgrown plants dominating.

The outside of the property may also need a little work, with the walls appearing to need a clean.

Average properties in Hampstead are £1.9m. The area has had its fair share of famous residents in the past and present including Ricky Gervais, Liam Gallagher, Helena Bonham Carter and Jonathan Ross.
