Harry and Meghan launch bid to create their own comedy shows

HARRY and Meghan could be laughing all the way to the bank — by creating their own comedy shows.

The humourless couple want to sell these programmes along with dramas and thrillers.

Animation and children’s series could also feature if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are granted permission to establish a TV and film company.

They have already signed huge money-spinning deals with streaming channels Netflix and Spotify for documentaries and podcasts.

Now they have filed documents with the UK’s Intellectual Property Office for trademark protection for Archewell Productions.

A source said: “Meghan and Harry’s approach to their TV ambitions has always been serious — it’s hard to imagine them coming up with the next Only Fools and Horses.”

The papers — issued late last month — seek sole rights to make “motion picture films, televisions series and videos” in all genres.

They also ask for protection for mobile phone apps for the business.

Meghan made her name starring in US legal drama Suits — and the documents, if rubber-stamped, will give freedom to create fiction and non-fiction TV and films.

Harry and Meg have already filed documents in the US to trademark their Archewell Foundation for good causes, and Archewell Audio for podcasts.

Their legal team in the States — Cobblestone Lane LLC — is asking for drama copyrights in this country.

The productions will be able to be viewed via all forms of TV and internet devices, with the application covering books and mags.

Harry, 36, and Meghan, 39, told recently how they “don’t regret” stepping down as senior royals.
