Harry and Meghan told to ‘lay down their swords’ as Queen been ‘through enough’

Former royal butler Paul Burrell hopes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will “lay down their swords” for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as he believes the Her Majesty has been “through enough”.

Harry and Meghan have already made sensational claims about the Royal Family since leaving their working roles for a new life in America.

However, it is believed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will make more bombshell claims this year.

Members of the Royal Family are particularly concerned over Harry’s forthcoming book, which is due out later this year.

Burrell, who was the butler to the late Princess Diana, has called on the couple to not “cause more drama” for the Queen, who he believes has already “been through enough”

Speaking to Closer, Burrell said: “I think it is abundantly clear that now is not the time to be writing a tell-all book about the royal family, with all the Queen is going through. It will be the ultimate betrayal.

“Surely Harry will see what this has done to his family and find it within himself to cancel the book, or postpone it. Even though he has stooped low in the past, he adores his Granny and surely he’ll realise it’d be too much for her.

“Hopefully, this year Harry and Meghan will lay down their swords – at least for the time being. They must not cause any more drama for the Queen – she’s been through enough.”

Harry and Meghan made their first big revelations during their sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made sensational claims that an unnamed senior royal made comments over the colour of their son Archie's skin.

It was also alleged that sister-in-law Kate Middleton had “upset” Meghan and claimed the Royal Family showed a failure to help her when she struggled with mental health.

Harry and Meghan are both expected to visit the UK this year for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations and so she can meet her great-granddaughter Lilibet.

The couple’s newest arrival was born last year in the US and the Queen and other royals are yet to meet Lilibet in person.

The Queen's jubilee celebrations will last from June 2 to June 5 with events including Topping the Colour, Platinum Jubilee Beacons, Platinum Party at the Palace and more.
