Harry rift is ‘constant strain’ on William as he prepares to be King – expert

Prince William feels a "constant strain" as a result of his "rift" with Harry, according to a royal expert.

The 39-year-old, who is second-in-line for the throne, and his younger brother, 37, reportedly started growing apart after Harry moved to the US with wife Meghan Markle in 2020.

Royal expert Duncan Larcombe told OK! : "It’s very clear to those that know William that the rift with his brother is not something that he can just forget about.

"It's very much, as you can imagine, a constant strain. It is for Harry as well, they’re both as stubborn as mules.

"That’s not great when two best friends and brothers fall out. If anybody knows what it’s like to fall out with a best friend or a brother who was close to you when you were growing up, it’s not nice. You miss them.

"William’s always had a set plan of where he wants to be in five years, how he’s going to transition from prince to husband to father to future king.

"He’s basically ticked all of those boxes that he set out to tick when he was graduating from university but the one thing not going right for him is something that is deeply upsetting."

However, all is not lost and Duncan is sure that the brothers would be able to repair their fraught relationship in the future, adding: "I think there’ll always be a way back.

"These are brothers that glued together as they lost their mother, they went through that bereavement and as is quite clear they dealt with it in different ways but they were very close.

"Every week the rift continues, Harry and William are the two people who are missing out the most."

The report comes amid speculation that estranged Harry and Meghan 'could win back Brits if they're brave', according to royal journalist Johnathon Sacerdoti.

Sacerdoti told the Express that while Meghan may not come back to the UK "easily", the upcoming Platinum Jubilee offered a chance for the Sussexes to return to the UK and win over the public again.

The correspondent said the couple would have to make the effort to lay low and not to steal the Queen's limelight, as they have a tendency to make appearances the 'Meghan and Harry show'.

Of their potential return for the approaching Jubilee, Sacerdoti said: "Who knows, let's watch this space and let's hope that if they can come they'll do it in a nice way and that it will be an opportunity for the whole family to enjoy being together and to put all that behind them."
