Harvey Weinstein's former CT home is razed to the ground

Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein’s former Connecticut home where he held fundraises for Obama and Hillary Clinton is razed to the ground – with new owner now selling the lot for a staggering $21 MILLION

  • Harvey Weinstein’s razed Westport property has hit the market. The two Beachside Avenue plots are being sold separately for a total of $21million
  • He purchased 26 Beachside Avenue in 1994 for $4.25million and bought the adjacent plot – 28 Beachside Avenue – in 2000 for $4million
  • The Hollywood producer offloaded the properties during the height of his sexual assault scandal in 2018 for $16million

Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein’s former Connecticut home has been razed and placed on the market for a staggering $21million.

Weinstein, 71, who is currently in jail, entertained many guests at the Beachside Avenue property – including hosting fundraisers for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton – before he sold the property and the adjacent plot in 2018 for $16million.

He purchased 26 Beachside Avenue in 1994 for $4.25million and bought the adjacent plot – 28 Beachside Avenue – in 2000 for $4million. The Hollywood producer offloaded the properties to English graphic designer Andrew Bentley and his wife Fiona Garland during the height of his sexual assault scandal.

Bentley and Garland razed the Westport property shortly after purchasing the two plots, according to the New York Post, and are now selling the nearly six-acre lots for a total of $21million, although each are listed separately.

Bentley, who owns several homes in the upscale neighborhood and was neighbors to the mogul, said he has ‘never met or seen Weinstein,’ who was known to frequent the home on the weekends with his former wife Georgina Chapman and their children.

Weinstein (pictured in October) has been sentenced to nearly 40 years in prison in New York and California for sexual assault

The graphic designer had initially bought the property with plans of building a new home, but those ideas never came to life.

When the colonial-style home was standing, it occupied nearly 9,000 square feet and had eight bedrooms and ten baths.

Weinstein married Chapman on the property in 2007.

Around the same time, Weinstein offloaded several properties to avoid bankruptcy while he viciously fought sexual assault allegations in court. He sold a mansion in the Hamptons he bought in 2014 for over $11 million – a million less than what he bought it for. He also sold another Westport home, where his mother lived until her death in 2016, for $1.6million in 2017.

Weinstein unsuccessfully fought the assault claims and was sentenced to 39 years in prison. He was sentence to 23 in 2020 for crimes in New York. He was also sentenced to 16 years in California in February of this year.

The side-by-side plots are located in the upscale Westport neighborhood in Connecticut

After his most recent conviction, Weinstein persisted that he was ‘innocent.’

‘It is incredible to be convicted for a crime I wasn’t even present for. I am innocent. I never raped or assaulted anyone,’ Weinstein said in a new statement following the verdict.

Weinstein, who continued to maintain his innocence, added that the actress ‘perjured herself at least three times and then sued for money, when she said on the stand that she would “never.'” ‘I was never with her. Her entire claim thing was a setup for a money grab,’ he added.

Weinstein was already serving a 23-year sentence for separate rape and sexual assault convictions in New York when he was found guilty of rape, forcible oral copulation and sexual penetration by foreign object of an unnamed Russian-born Italian model.

Weinstein frequented the property with his wife and kids and hosted fundraisers for Barack Obama (pictured on the property in 2012) and Hillary Clinton

His latest sentence – which will only begin when he completes his New York sentence – came after a rape at the Mr. C Beverly Hills Hotel in February 2013.

As the judge revealed his fate on Thursday, Weinstein – who is now almost certain to die behind bars – moaned: ‘I maintain that I’m innocent.

‘I never raped or sexually assaulted Jane Doe 1. I never knew this woman, and the fact is she doesn’t know me.’

‘Please don’t sentence me to life in prison,’ he begged Judge Lisa B Lench, to no avail. ‘I don’t deserve it. There are so many things wrong with this case.’

He will now serve the 16 years in addition to the 21 years left in his New York sentence. That would mean that Weinstein would be extradited to California to serve his 16 years behind bars in the state at the age of 91 – if he’s still alive at that age.

Should Weinstein make it to the end of his California sentence, he’d be released aged 107.
