SECRETARY of State Mike Pompeo patted himself on the back while taking shots at Hillary Clinton over a "silly" Russian reset button from 2009.
In a Sunday morning tweet, Pompeo resurfaced a photo of Clinton presenting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov with the prop, which was meant as a symbolic gesture.
The "reset" prop was meant to signify a renewed relationship between the two nations.
"The @realDonaldTrump Administration pushed back hard on Russian aggression by supporting friends, not coddling Moscow," Pompeo wrote alongside the snap.
"No silly 'reset' buttons. #Realism," he added.
When Clinton held the Secretary of State job during the Obama Administration in 2009, she gave Lavrov the button to demonstrate an openness to a positive relationship going forward.
The red button had the English word "reset" on it and was meant to have the Russian word for reset as well, but instead had the word for "overload."
Clinton, at the time, received a lot of backlash for the gesture.
Donald Trump also resurfaced the story in a 2017 tweet in response to criticism he had received about his own administration's relationship with Russia.
"Does the Fake News Media remember when Crooked Hillary Clinton, as Secretary of State, was begging Russia to be our friend with the misspelled reset button?" Trump wrote.
"Obama tried also, but he had zero chemistry with Putin."
Clinton served as Secretary of State during Barack Obama's first term, from 2009 to 2013.
Pompeo's slight at Clinton came as part of a series of tweets where he reiterated his list of personal accomplishments while he's held the Secretary of State job.
Most of the accomplishments Pompeo mentioned had to do with the Trump Administration's Russian relations.
"No Administration has been as tough on Russia as we have. Period. Full stop. Look at the facts," Pompeo wrote.
