‘Homeless village’ takes over London’s exclusive Park Lane as locals blast piles of rubbish left outside tents
A ‘homeless village’ has been set up on an upmarket street in central London as rows of tents line a green space between two busy roads.
The group set up on the exclusive Park Lane in Westminster – a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace – and huddled around a fire on Saturday as the temperatures dropped.
Complaints by wealthy locals appeared to have made little difference as the occupants allowed rubbish to pile up on the grass.
A broken pram, cardboard and bin bags appeared to have been piled under a huge canvas on the outskirts of the small encampment.
It is not the first time people have set up shop on the road, with a group of rough sleepers – believed to be migrants – staying there in July.
