I bought all my last-minute presents at 'UK's cheapest shop' and saved £190 – there were so many designer bargains | The Sun

SAVVY shoppers have rushed to fill their Christmas stockings with branded goodies sold at bargain prices.

WD Bargains is selling high-end products – by brands including Armani, Hugo Boss, Jo Malone and Ted Baker for a fraction of their RRP.

And the Barnsley, South Yorkshire, outlet has been inundated with customers travelling from miles around to grab last-minute pressies.

When The Sun visited the industrial unit on the fringes of the town – our reporter found NHS nurses and social workers bagging £70 Ralph Lauren scented candles for a tenner.

Other shoppers were queuing to snap up posh Ted Baker diffusers for a tenner – £24 less than RRP – and luxe White Company gift sets for £20.

Owner Karl Darley, 58, said: "People come from miles away because we’re so cheap.

"We’ve got customers coming to us from as far away as Manchester – knowing that even with petrol it’s cheaper than going to the supermarket.

"We’re selling top-end pet food that costs £65 online for £20, for example.

"If we spot something that we can sell cheaper than the supermarkets, then we will buy it.

"People have been flocking in over the last six weeks to stock up for Christmas.

"We appreciate that so many people are finding it tough at the moment, and it means a lot to us that we can save them a bit of cash."

NHS worker Annette Talbot, 50, and daughter Phoebe, 12, stocked up on cheap Molton Brown and Yankee Candle goodies, and scored 36 cans of Coca-Cola for £10.

Iceland sells 24 cans for £13 by comparison.

Annette also bought a 7.5kg bag of James Wellbeloved dog food for a third of the standard £35.99 price it is sold for at Pets at Home.

She said: "A friend told us about this place and we haven’t looked back.

"It’s just nice to be getting things at a more reasonable price.

“Sometimes people think ‘oh, it’s cheaper so there must be something wrong with it’, but we’ve come here lots of times and never had a problem.

“The cost of everything has gone up massively and it’s just nice to save a few pence this Christmas.

“I’ve spent about £80 in all – but that’s food and drink, gifts and pet food.

"If I’d gone to a shopping centre, I’d have spent £80 just on the gifts.”

WD Bargains, who is also known locally as Bee’s Bargains, was selling £30 Laura Ashley pillows for a fiver and three packs of Guylian Belgian chocolates for £10.

Just one pack normally retails for £6.50.

Also bagging bargains was mum Lindsay French, 37, and her daughters Demi, six, and Ella, 10.

Lindsay, from Barnsley, bought 24 packs of Pipers crisps for £7, a bottle of branded vodka for £13 and two boxes of biscuits for £2.50.

She said: “We love it here. It’s cheap and there’s everything you could want in one place.

“It means we can have a fun Christmas and not break the bank.

“Everything is so expensive at the moment so it’s nice to find somewhere where the prices aren’t going up.”

Clutching Christmas biscuits, interior designer Antonio Taylor-Shaw, 60, added: “They’re great for the aunties and uncles because they look the part but they don’t cost a great deal.
