I found tens of thousands of pounds worth of TREASURE and guns after unearthing massive secret in my grandparents’ home

A MAN discovered tens of thousands of pounds worth of treasure and guns after stumbling upon the goldmine in his late grandparents' house.

Posting under the username EvilEnglish on Reddit, the man from Tennessee said that he was cleaning the farmhouse in preparation to sell it.

His grandparents lived in the property for 20 years, and when his grandfather died in 1998, his grandmother left the farmhouse and never returned before she passed away.

The long-standing house was inherited by the Redditor's father before falling into his hands and he was tasked with cleaning it up before its sale.

In his now deleted post, the Reddit user said that the inherited house was in really bad condition after two decades of neglect.

But after dusting off the cobwebs, he stumbled across a closet under the staircase which had an old rug in it. To his surprise, underneath the dusty carpet was something special.

He wrote: “I pushed the carpet back further and saw a round cap with a circle indentation on it. I pulled off the cap and … A Secret Safe!”

He spent a few days trying open up the safe to figure out what exactly was so carefully hidden.

With his efforts to open the safe in vain, he called Major Safe Co., and hired a locksmith, according to information on imgur.

The locksmith struggled at first with EvilEnglish saying: “He said about 30 mins into this that if he had known what he was getting into, he would have referred the job to someone else.”

But at long last the locksmith managed to crack it open and revealed the hoard of hidden treasures inside.

The safe was stuffed full of boxes that held antique items such as rare coins, silver bars and many other things his grandparents had stored away.

The treasure boxes had suffered some water damage due to a pipe leak but thankfully the valuables inside remained intact.

“I knew my grandmother collected coins, but I thought we had found all of them!” he wrote.

Although there is not an exact figure confirmed for the find, it is estimated to amount to around tens of thousands of pounds.

After posting his findings on Reddit, another user commented on his post and said that the prestige sets of coins were worth at least $20 each.

However, the silver coins would fetch far more in value on the market.

“At the moment their melt value is 17.3 times face value,” the user wrote. “With low silver prices and extremely high demand for physical silver, most respectable dealers will pay you melt right now.”

In addition, the silver bars that EvilEnglish found were also told to be worth around $24 each.

If that wasn't enough the lucky user found dollar bills worth a fair bit of cash.

But the final treasure he unearthed from the large safe was not just valuable financially.

EvilEnglish discovered another box filled with jewellery which brought him even closer to his late nan by fulfilling a childhood dream.

The Reddit user grew up having his grandparents read Treasure Island to him when he visited.

And it was a touching moment that brought back the memories of the times he had shared with them and his wishes of finding a box full of jewels.

“Funny that as a boy, in that very house, my Grandma read me Treasure Island,” EvilEnglish wrote. “And I always dreamed of finding something like this!”

He then found yet another safe when opening a coffee table which hid treasures from his grandfather.

The second safe opened more easily than the first and he discovered a collection of antique pistols with his grandfather a keen artillery collector.

With his post now removed, the last that was heard of the Redditor was that he was debating whether to sell the items or keep them as memories.
