I spent £3,000 on a new kitchen – but it's taken MONTHS to finish and my Christmas will be ruined

A FURIOUS customer will be without his kitchen this Christmas after waiting months for work on it to be finished.

Simon Middleton, who lives in Hilton, Derbyshire, ordered new units for his kitchen in August – but the work won't be finished until after Christmas after a series of logistical errors, he claims.

Simon ordered the units from Wren Kitchens who said the project should have been completed in October.

The 55-year-old – who works as a team leader at Toyota – claims he has spent more than £3,000 so far for a new 'hassle-free' kitchen and utility room.

However, he claims he was initially sent the wrong units, followed by the kitchen fitters getting a flat tyre which have pushed back the completion date significantly.

Simon also says he is unhappy with what has been done after receiving damaged units and incorrect sizes.

Speaking to Derbyshire Live, he said: "We started looking at the kitchen in July time and we decided to order it in August.

"Obviously, they have fitting times so they gave us the date of October 6.

"In the meantime, we were doing a bit of renovation work in the house and we were converting the garage into a utility room and we decided to go to Wren so that it matched the kitchen.

"They sent all the stuff and the units were wrong and so we had to order new units."

Replacement units were reportedly dispatched by Wren, but Simon claims the delivery arrived without the units or cabinet doors.

He said: "We had to wait a full week for the units so we couldn't get the utility room finished because we were waiting for the units to come from them.

"And then, obviously, the kitchen started on October 6 and the fitter was supposed to come on Monday.

"He rang on Monday and said, 'I've got a flat tire and I will come tomorrow'.

"He came the next day and the doors were wrong, the doors were chipped
so we ordered new ones. So he came back and they were wrong again.

"Since then, the plinth falls off every time we open the fridge door,
every time we open the dishwasher door, the plinth moves and there is
a chip on one of the doors."

Simon says the plinths have been fixed, but he has now been advised that the hinges on his kitchen doors were wrong and would now need to be replaced.

Simon joked: "Maybe it'll be finished for next Christmas.

"I have been to Wren's shop, I have rung them at head office and you have to wait 35 minutes before anyone answers.

"The last two times that I have rung, I have been on hold for 35 minutes and then the phone cut off which is very frustrating.

"They sent me a cheque as compensation the other day, and they can't even get that right because they put the wrong name on the cheque.

"Everything that they do, it is one step forward and one step back and I am still waiting for my kitchen to be fitted when they said it would take two weeks."

Wren Kitchens has been contacted but has not yet responded.
