I was raped and beaten by monster ex Levi Bellfield – his prison wedding bid is a disgrace and should NEVER be allowed

SHAMELESS Levi Bellfield's bid to get married to a blonde admirer behind bars is "disgraceful" and a "slap in the face" to victims, says his tormented ex lover.

The monster, 53, who murdered at least three young women including Milly Dowler, shocked the nation this week after revealing he is engaged to a mystery lover while serving a whole-life term at HMP Frankland in Durham.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he was "sickened and appalled" by the news, while prisons minister Victoria Atkins has vowed to do "everything in her power" to stop it.

Now, Joe Collings, who was routinely raped, beaten and psychologically abused during her three-year relationship with the former bouncer, has told The Sun how the stomach-churning news left her in "floods of tears".

The 50-year-old claims that even decades on, he still tries to assert control over her from prison, put a hit out on her a few years ago and threatened an acid attack to “f*** her face up”.

Joe tells The Sun: “There’s no way he should be allowed to get married, it’s disgraceful and beggars belief. He’s a monster who has ruined countless people’s lives, and he’s ruined mine too.

“Hearing his latest stunt, I instantly burst into tears. Even now, by doing something like this he still has a control over my life and my emotions. I feel angry, upset, and sick, and I know it’s just never going to end until he dies.

“It was a reminder he’s still able to control my emotions and it will no doubt have a horrifying impact on his victims’ families too. It’s a slap in the face. What’s next? He’s locked away forever but still knows how to get a reaction.

“It’s either another publicity stunt to prove he’s changed so he can move to a better prison, or she’s as twisted as he is, or she thinks she can change him."

Bellfield, a rapist, kidnapper and burglar, carried out horrific attacks that ended the lives of 13-year-old Milly, Marsh McDonnell, 19, and Amelie Delagrange, 22.

He also tried to kill Kate Sheedy by running her over in his car, but miraculously she survived.

After such appalling crimes, Joe says she cannot understand how anyone could want to marry such a monster.

She said: “I struggle every day with mental health because of him so I can’t process how a woman, knowing what he’s done, could write to him and waste the paper, let alone get engaged to him.

“They’ll never have a proper relationship, which is the only positive – at least she won’t have to endure the pain and suffering I went through and won’t be beaten and raped all the time.

“It’s all about control with him, and this is just another new way to control someone else. He won’t be able to physically lock her up, but he will tell her who she can talk to and who she can see, and he will undoubtedly constantly be paranoid she’s cheating on him.

"I feel sorry for her in a way. I want to ask her why she’s doing this – she obviously knows what he’s done and while he could always charm the birds from the trees and knows how to turn it on, he’s a fat, ugly murderer and a paedophile."

'I wake up screaming'

The trauma Joe suffered 25 years ago still haunts her as she regularly suffers "flashbacks" and "horrific nightmares" where she wakes up screaming.

She feels her only relief will come when he is dead – and the mum believes he is lucky to even enjoy a life behind bars.

Joe said: “If he was a dog he would have been put down. There are people who can’t afford to eat and feed their families, so he shouldn’t be allowed to get married. All the money wasted on the likes of him could fund people’s cost of living, to heat their houses or pay for food.

“I was diagnosed with PTSD just before Covid hit because of him.

“I was affected a lot through Covid, as I had so much time to think about it, and I started to think about what it would have been like if I’d been with him during lockdown – I honestly think I would have ended up stabbing him.

“I still get flashbacks and horrific nightmares. I woke up screaming the other night because I was convinced I was being strangled and was hysterical when I woke up.
