A POTENTIAL homebuyer has claimed a £270,000 newbuild was covered in mould – before saying the builder told them it was NORMAL.
A TikTok user, known as Ellie_and_thetwins, posted the brief footage online showing her walking around the property in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.
The video begins with a shot of a door frame which appears to show black mould running along the side.
The voiceover said: “Went to see a home in Gainsborough.
“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”
It then cuts to footage of a skirting board in the property, which also appears to show black mould running along the top of it.

Coverage then cuts to another door frame and once again it appears to be covered in mould along the edge and has spread to the top right hand corner.
The Tiktok user asks: “Would you pay £270,000 for this?”

Another added: “OMG!! That’s so bad!”
A third said: “Bet the wood was still damp and didn’t let it dryout full before finishing. It’s absolutely shocking.”
Some though came to the defence of the builders.
A commentator pointed out “That is normal in winter months in a new build without heating on. It’s only surface mould. Nothing to panic about.”
Another wrote: “This is absolutely normal building a house in winter, won’t cause any future problems at all.”
