A FLORIDA man decided he wanted to literally face his extreme fear of spiders when he decided to get a massive black widow tattoo on his face.
Eric Ortiz said that “everybody” is afraid of spiders, which is what inspired him to get the creature permanently drawn on his cheek.
“That’s why I got it. Just to, like, make me know that that’s what I fear, but not to fear it. You know what I’m saying?” he told the Daytona Beach News-Journal.
Due to his severe arachnophobia, Ortiz also goes by the name “Spyder.” He later got a spider web tattooed on the other side of his face.
The tattoo has gotten Ortiz a lot of attention, but not in the best way. His friends are worried that the body modification will hinder his chances of getting a job in the future.
His girlfriend also wasn’t a fan of it and now Ortiz’s relationship status is currently “single.”

The woman managed to escape.
Now the tattoo has given Ortiz an easily-identifiable face, which might not be the best thing given his rap sheet full of crimes.
While speaking to the publication, Ortiz was at the Volusia County Courthouse with a felony charge of driving while license revoked.
According to records, Ortiz is a repeated offender.
Ortiz’s other charges include burglary of a conveyance, domestic battery, possession of schedule 4 substance, retail theft, violation of an injunction for protection and loitering and prowling.
According to police, Ortiz had lured his ex-girlfriend out of her home, battered her and then allegedly tried to sexually assault her back in 2014 in order to pressure her into dropping previous charges against him.
