Infamous juvenile offender dubbed Spiderboy is on the run again – now aged 40

A NOTORIOUS juvenile offender dubbed Spiderboy is now 40 and on the run again.

Tearaway Thomas Laws’ life of crime began when he was nine.

In his teens, he clocked up scores of convictions for car theft — including 190 high-performance motors — and burglaries costing taxpayers £500,000.

Laws, only 4ft 2in at 17 but now 5ft 8in, escaped from care over 30 times.

He also squeezed through bars six inches apart to get out of a secure court dock.

He got his nickname at 13 after being seen creeping along a five-inch wide beam 50ft up to evade police.

He bragged to the Press: “I know roofs like other people know streets.”

But by the age of 17 he tired of the nickname and asked the Home Secretary for a court to identify him despite being a juvenile.

Laws, of North Shields, North Tyneside, vowed to go straight but turned robber. He has been at large all lockdown facing jail recall for breaching his licence.

Supt Jonathan Bensley said: “If you’ve seen Laws, please contact us.

“It is a criminal offence to harbour someone who is evading arrest, and we do not want anybody getting into trouble on his account.”
