A millionaire Iranian influencer’s gold McLaren supercar was seized after police found him driving it without insurance.

Pooyan Mokhtari, 31, was stopped at the Channel Tunnel Terminal in Dover on February 25 and saw his £1million Senna taken away by traffic officers, The Sun reports.

Mr Mokhtari, who has nearly six million Instagram followers and is believed to be worth £10million, had planned to ship the vehicle to Milan but was ‘unable’ to sort insurance when stopped by police, it is understood.

The McLaren, which can go up to 208mph, was driven away by officers because trying to fit it onto a recovery truck would have caused ‘thousands of pounds worth of damage’ to the undercarriage, a source said.

It was taken to a local police station and then to a recovery yard in Kent, where it sat for more than a week.

Mr Mokhtari then sent a truck to collect the vehicle on Sunday and it was shipped to Paris.

The source added: ‘The cops couldn’t believe they’d seized a car worth seven figures that wasn’t insured on the road. The owner wouldn’t have been covered if he’d written it off.’

A Kent Police spokesman said: ‘At around 6pm on Friday 25 February 2022, officers at the Channel Tunnel Terminal stopped a vehicle which was uninsured.

‘The driver was given the opportunity to arrange insurance for the vehicle but was unable to do so and the vehicle was therefore seized.’
