An iconic European theme park, once a favourite with British tourists, still remains abandoned more than 500 days after being forced to close.
But due to a bizarre legal dispute, staff are still attending every day and keeping the place in perfect condition.
Tivoli World, which opened in May, 1972, is known to most Brits as one of the best theme parks to visit in Spain and was a go-to place on the Costa del Sol.

But in 2020, it was forced to close after the pandemic destroyed the local tourist economy.
It briefly reopened for two months, but closed again last year when its owners went bankrupt.
That, coupled with a legal battle over money owed by its owners, saw it close – but all of the staff were still employed.
And due to a strange contractual loophole, all those employed were not being paid but were not allowed to seek employment elsewhere.
So they all decided to keep turning up to the park every day and make sure that it didn’t fall into a state of disrepair – leaving the abandoned theme park in stunning condition, despite it owners being chased for around £3.5million.
And now, more than 500 days on, staff are still going to the site every day and have even been given awards by local politicians for their dedication.
The legal dispute, however, rumbles on.
The staff have no choice but to attend every day
More than 80 staff members have been left in limbo by the odd contract laws, and still keep the site in perfect condition every day

The president of the Salvemos Tivoli group, which represents the staff, Juan Ramon Delgado, stated last year: "We haven’t been paid for 10 months, but we can’t work on anything else either because we’re discharged – the situation is unsustainable.”
