Renovation properties are like gold dust at the moment and occasionally a house goes under the hammer in a state so unusual new potential buyers can’t help but be intrigued.
This is the case for a valleys terrace in South Wales that although now somewhat dishevelled, for the right buyer it offers an opportunity, going to auction with a guide price of just £18,000.
Having been untouched for decades and left exactly the same as if it was a moment in time, the last 60 years of 18 Excelsior Street, Ebbw Vale has seen its ownership stay within the same family, reports WalesOnline.
It was purchased in the 1950s by a husband and wife who were the new operators of the Cwm National Workingmen's Club, known as The Nash.
After the early passing of the wife, the husband passed away in 1960, and the house has been occupied by their life-long bachelor son, Arthur, right up to just before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Current owner, 'Arth' as he is known, was a hard-working life-long employee of the former steelworks and is known by many people in the Waun-Lwyd area and described by many people who knew him as a 'legend'.
One aspect of living at the house that Arth did not like or fully embrace was the development of modern living, so the interior of the house was never updated with modern conveniences or decor.
Arth had no desire whatsoever to update his home.
Virgin Media is down with thousands unable to go online or see favourite shows
As the auctioneer selling Arth's home says, it is like stepping back in time, even if some of it is not accessible.
But despite the need for a full "back to bricks" renovation Arth, who is now living in a care home, describes his lifelong home as "solid as a rock" – and who is going to argue with Arth on that one?
Arth's house is going to an online auction with Auction House South Wales via their website with a guide price of £18,000.

Searching the online auction catalogues, there are a number of vacant or abandoned houses soon to be sold to find.
All need a significant amount of work to be done and, unless you are an experienced developer, should be fully investigated by professionals for the extent of the work required.
UK town ashamed of 'embarrassing' decorations as locals rally to save Christmas
There is a human story behind every home that is down on its luck and needs an urgent refresh, from a vendor with no family to a rental gone wrong, each tale to tell is unique to the property.
The property auctions are usually the best places to come across a run-down, once loved home – somewhere to find a property where you can add value by bringing it back to modern life.
As many potential buyers are put off by the level of work required, especially novice renovators, the guide price can usually be quite tempting too if you have the experience, knowledge and skill to revive a house that comes with challenges.
