As Russia's President Vladimir Putin sits at the forefront amid worrying tensions over a potential World War 3, one bizarre theory claims the head of state has been involved in many wars before this – because he is a vampire.
Claims have dogged the despotic leader for decades that he is an immortal vampire with a plan for world domination.
And the claims are said to be backed up by alleged CIA intelligence, brought to life during the tumultuous term of former United States President Donald Trump.
According to Peacock Plume – a student media news website run by the American University of Paris – the news of a possible vampire Putin was rubbished by Trump due to his amicable relationship with the Russian counterpart.
The report claims: “The CIA uncovered that President Putin is actually one and the same as Vlad the Impaler, Prince of Wallachia – otherwise known as Count Dracula.
“The report legitimises scientific speculations surrounding President Putin's ageless appearance while riding horses shirtless, and it should be noted then that his youthful and invigorating appearance is certainly not a result of Olay Age Defying Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream.
“There are various options that are recommended for possible defence against President Putin.
'Embarrassing' Trump social network doesn't work at launch – even his wife won't use it
“(He) is vulnerable to the classic tools of the vampire-hunting trade, such as garlic, holy water, a crucifix, silver, and, most importantly, a wooden stake.
“Sunlight, on the other hand, ordinarily found to be a useful tool in revealing vampires, has proven ineffective in regards to the President of the Russian Federation thus far, for obvious reasons.”
The site also claims that Putin's former wife, Lyudmila Putina, said that her ex-husband “assembled a team of scientists to develop a sunscreen that would protect him from all known forms of UV rays” prior to him taking office as Prime Minister in 1999.
The theory that he is immortal has sparked sleuths unveiling old photos they believe is Putin, with one such picture taken in 1920 looking extremely similar to that of the current Russian leader.
A separate historic snap, also believed to be of a Russian soldier, was taken in 1941.
Both pictures went viral with conspiracy theorists in 2018, with people suggesting they were proof that Putin had been serving the people of Russia for centuries.
Disclose.tv said at the time: “The images were hundreds of times shared by conspiracy theorists, in an attempt to show that the travelers of time are among us, in all areas of our society.
“However, others believe that Putin could be immortal, a man who has been serving the Russian people for centuries.
“Some theories to explain these images go beyond, that connects the Russian leader popular with the Prince Vlad III of Transylvania, also known as Count Dracula.”
Putin is not the first person to have been 'spotted' in historical images, sparking claims of time travel.
There was also a theory, started by former Labour councillor in Whitby, Simon Parkes, that Putin was actually being advised by aliens – specifically reptilian ones.
During a Q&A session in 2015, he said: “Putin had been part of a group advised by reptiles.
“Nordics made a counteroffer to Putin.
“The technology the Nordics are giving to Putin is on a par with America.

“The Nordics have told Putin he no longer has to toe the American line, hence his resistance.”
Parkes has also, allegedly, claimed that his own birth mother is a 9ft reptilian alien.
And finally, in 2008, the vampire claims were further pushed with Russian gossip magazine Secrets of the Stars claiming the man was a “virile vampire”.
Although it's not clear who wrote the piece, titled “Sometimes he's just so cool”, it reads: “There's not a single woman who would not dream of embracing and kissing Vladimir Vladimirovich and hearing his declaration of love.
“I like to know that he enjoys eating fried cabbage and ham. It somehow makes me feel closer to him."
For now, though, we just know he's Russia's president.
