The luxurious Hollywood mansion featured in The Godfather has been on the market for more than a decade without a buyer coming forward.

A London-based estate agent has been drafted in to help flog the iconic property, with the latest listing pricing the plush pad at a staggering £86million.

Its most recent price makes it the most expensive house currently on the market in the United States, but US agents The Agency have called in London's Beauchamp Estates to help move it on.

The mansion was first listed for sale in 2007 and as well as being seen in iconic scenes from the gangster movie trilogy, it also featured in The Bodyguard and Beyonce's film Black Is King.

It includes a tennis court, cinemas and huge terraces for hosting more than 400 guests.

The plush property was built in 1927 and is seen as a representation of Hollywood's Golden Age. It was bought by actress Marion Davies in 1946 for her to use with her lover, publishing tycoon William Randolph Hearst.

It was also the honeymoon home of assassinated US president John F Kennedy and his wife Jackie, and it also served as his presidential election HQ.

The 18-bedroom estate sits on 3.5 acres of land in the heart of Beverly Hills and aerial pictures show off its vastness.

Hearst and Davies kept the estate as their Beverly Hills residence until Mr Hearst’s death in 1951, and the property was owned by the Marion Davies estate up until 1967, six years after her own death.

It also features a nightclub and a luxurious billiards room and is in a great location, sitting a stone's throw away from famous spots such as Sunset Boulevard.

But the mansion became known to a wider audience when it featured in the classic 1972 film The Godfather, starring Marlon Brando.

Gary Hersham, founding director of Beauchamp Estates, said: "Beauchamp Estates is delighted to be appointed exclusively as the only agent outside of the USA to manage the international marketing of The Beverly House, one of the most magnificent private estates in California that is truly anchored in American legend.

"This is one of the most prestigious instructions for an American estate to be given to a London agency in many years and will appeal to our high-net-worth clients around the world."
