Isabel Torres dead – Spanish actress and star of TV series Veneno loses battle with lung cancer aged 52 as fans mourn

SPANISH actress Isabel Torres has died of lung cancer aged 52.

The Veneno actress passed away on Friday following a long battle with the disease, her family confirmed in an Instagram post.


"Today, February 11, 2022, we say goodbye to Isabel," the post, translated from Spanish, read.

"Although her family and friends feel her loss deeply, we know that wherever she goes, she will have fun as only she knows how.

"Thank you for all the messages of affection and concern. She has left feeling very loved and supported."

According to Spanish media, Torres had been suffering from cancer for two years.

In November 2021, the actress shared a clip on Instagram in which she revealed she had two months to live.

Torres shot to fame in 2019 when she was cast as the iconic character Cristina Ortiz in the Spanish TV show Veneno.

She was diagnosed with lung cancer while filming after noticing she was in pain.

She later told Spanish media about her diagnosis, saying: "My life has not been easy. Without realizing it, I have made a battle of my life.

"A battle that I don't know if it will end soon or a little later. What I am clear about is that I am not going to stop fighting until the last moment."

Torres was a pioneering LGBTQ+ advocate and proudly spoke about raised by her two mothers.

In 1996, she became the first Canarian woman to have the gender on her ID changed and featured on the cover of Interviú the following year.

She was also the first transgender candidate for the queen of the major festival Carnival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Tributes have poured in for the late actress.

Veneno director Javier Ambrossi wrote on Instagram: "I can only thank you, Isabel. I still see you in every memory. In every complicit look in filming, in every dance when we could, in every rehearsal.

"You are effort, talent, courage, beauty, power. I take you to inside forever. Rest, my love"
