THE great nephew of John Profumo has been arrested on his return to the UK after allegedly travelling to Syria to fight ISIS.
Jamie Janson, 42, from London, is said to have joined up with the Kurds as a volunteer earlier this year to battle Turkish troops in Afrin.
He was arrested in Folkestone, Kent, after returning to Britain on a coach from France on Tuesday.
Mr Janson was held by Scotland Yard's Counter Terrorism Command under section 5 of the Terrorism Act before being released on bail, pending further inquiries.
His great uncle was disgraced Tory minister and former secretary of state for war, whose career ended in 1963 after a fling with model Christine Keeler.
Mr Janson, also the grandson of Lord Balfour, said he was among other foreign fighters with the Kurdish People's Protection Units who were smuggled out of northern Syria in March.
He then crossed the border to the Kurish region of northern Iraq, before flying to Brussels and onto France where he took a ferry to Dover.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Mr Janson said: "I was taken off the bus at Folkestone and arrested. It was a pretty scary process.
"I was released under investigation after a night in the cell. Police treated me very well and it has been amazing to see my family again after so long."
His family only discovered he was fighting jihadis after he sent them a picture of himself wearing fatigues and holding a Kalashnikov, according to the Mail.
In a video posted while in Syria, he said: "I feel guilty about how much I have put my family through. Being out here will be a great worry for them."
His brother has expressed the family's relief at his return, despite the fact he is facing potential criminal charges.
Christopher Janson, 33, said: "It's a huge relief he is alive and safe.
"I received a text saying he had been bailed after being arrested on his way back into the country and he is now staying with friends. He's very pleased to be back."
A Brit is yet to be convicted of fighting ISIS, however, authorities have said they will take action.
