Jordan Peterson has slammed Australia’s national carrier for playing a message onboard his flight to Western Australia recognising the land’s traditional owners.
The controversial clinical psychologist, podcaster and best-selling author, in a tweet after stepping off the plane, called the Indigenous Acknowledgement of Country ‘corporate propaganda’.
The Canadian, 60, is currently embarking on a speaking tour of Australia and touched down in Perth on Monday.
‘I could really do without the land acknowledgment propaganda delivered to me by a corporate behemoth @Qantas,’ he posted.
‘I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way. Stick to (1) flying and (2) making money.
‘I don’t want or need moral lessons from you or any other corporation.’

What is an Acknowledgment of Country?
Acknowledgment of Country is a ceremonial statement that recognises the traditional ownership of Australian land.
An Acknowledgement of Country may take the following form:
‘I wish to acknowledge the [collective traditional owner’s name] people as the traditional owners of this land.
‘I would also like to pay my respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities who may be here today.’
The post sparked a flurry of angry tweets with many Australians firing back at Dr Peterson for not respecting the custom.
‘Such a negative bloke you are constantly complaining about everything do you ever laugh?’ one person wrote.
Another said: ‘With the greatest respect, this issue is way beyond your domain of competence. Recognition of Traditional Owners is a practice widely accepted across the Australian political spectrum. It is not propaganda. There are some issues you as a visitor should leave alone.’
A third commented: ‘Can you explain this? I’m not for or against it, but it’s a acknowledgement of this country’s history and traditional owners. It respects history. Is there something inherently bad about that?’
Acknowledgement of Country announcements, along with Welcome to Country announcements at events, are now a common custom throughout all levels of Australian society, including government.
Qantas, along with many other major Australian companies, have a firm policy in place to acknowledge and celebrate Indigenous culture.
‘As the national carrier, we are uniquely positioned to connect people to the world’s oldest living cultures through our domestic and international networks,’ the airline’s website says.
‘Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are integral to the Spirit of Australia and we seek to amplify this throughout our customers’ journeys.
‘We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work, live and fly. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.’

Controversial psychologist Jordan Peterson reveals what he REALLY thought of Scott Morrison – as the ex-PM breaks his silence after being entranced by his speech to politicians
By Michael Pickering and Nic White for Daily Mail Australia
Controversial Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson struggled to muster a response when asked to revealed his thoughts on ex-prime minister Scott Morrison after the pair met in Canberra.
Dr Peterson, currently on a speaking tour of Australia, visited the nation’s capital and gave a speech to a group of conservative politicians at Parliament House on Thursday.
Mr Morrison was seen front and centre in the audience, apparently entranced by the words of the 12 Rules for Life author, who has become an internationally popular figure for his takes on social and cultural issues.
Both men later posted photos of their meeting on social media before Dr Peterson was doorstopped at an airport to ask what he thought of Mr Morrison after their meeting.
Dr Peterson and ex-PM Scott Morrison met in Canberra on Thursday. Asked later what he thought of the former prime minister, Dr Peterson at first appeared unsure. ‘Well, I thought, I thought that he was… what was my impression?’

‘Well, I thought, I thought that he was… what was my impression?’ Dr Peterson told news website Crikey, apparently at first uncertain of what his impression was of the former PM.
He reportedly paused for several moments while collecting his thoughts.
‘Well, we had a fine conversation.
‘He’s very well versed in energy policy. I was very interested in talking to him about his reactions to events like [climate change conference] COP26, which he was not impressed by.
‘And I asked him why, and it was for reasons, I presume, he thought that it was mostly posture, which it is, and it was good to see that he was clear-headed about that.’
In a Facebook post, Mr Morrison said he enjoyed meeting up to chat with Dr Peterson.
‘He makes a lot of sense,’ Mr Morrison commented.

In the speech organised by Queensland Nationals senator Matt Canavan, Dr Peterson told an audience that included Mr Morrison, ex-Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce and One Nation leader Pauline Hanson that Australia’s politicians needed to ‘fight for cheaper energy, smaller government and the nuclear family’
Earlier in the speech organised by Queensland Nationals senator Matt Canavan, Dr Peterson told an audience that included Mr Morrison, ex-Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce and One Nation leader Pauline Hanson that Australia’s politicians needed to ‘fight for cheaper energy, smaller government and the nuclear family’.
He also urged the assembled politicians to defend capitalism and boost ‘individual responsibility’ among young people.
The Canadian professor told the select group the audiences on his tour were composed of ‘conservatives, classical liberals and cancelled progressives’.
‘All these people are feeling like voices in the wilderness, but there are lots of them. In fact, they’re the majority of people in all likelihood,’ reported the Australian Financial Review.
‘I started toying with the idea of developing a centralised vision that was contrary to the woke messianism that characterises modern times,’ he told the audience.
‘I have been organising around that in my social media discussions and presentations, and also behind the scenes politically, meeting with people in Europe, the UK, US about how to formulate a vision that runs contrary to the hypocritical globalist utopians.’
A report into Mr Morrison’s holding of multiple cabinet portfolios during the Covid-19 pandemic comes as former treasurer Josh Frydenberg (pictured) revealed to journalist Niki Savva he saw no reason why the ex-PM had appointed himself to his portfolio in 2021, and was yet to apologise for doing so
Mr Morrison is expected to dominate political headlines again on Friday after former High Court justice Virginia Bell hands down a report into the former prime minister’s appointment of himself to multiple cabinet portfolios during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The report will be delivered as Mr Morrison’s former treasurer Josh Frydenberg revealed to journalist Niki Savva he saw no reason why the ex-PM had appointed himself to his portfolio in 2021, and was yet to apologise for doing so.
‘The fact he did take it, and it was not made transparent to me and others, was wrong and profoundly disappointing. It was extreme overreach,’ Mr Frydenberg said.
On Thursday Senator Canavan mocked Australians on Twitter who were unimpressed with Dr Peterson being invited to air his controversial views in Parliament House.
‘The lefty meltdown about Jordan Peterson is hilarious… even better than the talk,’ he wrote.
During his rise to fame, Dr Peterson has described himself as a ‘professor against political correctness’
Dr Peterson, a psychologist and professor emeritus at the University of Toronto, is a controversial figure due to his conservative views on free speech, gender identification and climate change.
During his rise to fame, Dr Peterson has described himself as a ‘professor against political correctness’.
The 60-year-old has been particularly outspoken about masculinity and has previously stated that the masculine spirit is ‘under assault’.
Dr Peterson was suspended from Twitter in June after he tweeted that movie star Elliot Page had his breasts removed by a ‘criminal physician’.
He also used his former name, Ellen – a practice referred to by transgender people as ‘dead-naming’, and which many consider offensive.
Around the same time, he claimed Russia was pushed to invade Ukraine to prevent the spread of ‘degeneracy’ of America’s gender culture wars.
‘Are we degenerate, in a profoundly threatening manner,’ Dr Peterson asked in an opinion piece. ‘I think the answer to that may well be yes.’
