Kate and William could be asked to save royal Christmas after Queen health scare

Kate Middleton and Prince William may be asked to continue to fill in along with other royals as the Queen may continue to rest over Christmas.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have already been seen taking the reins at the Royal Variety Performance and during the Remembrance Day service.

It is now believed that the duties for organising the festive period for the royals will fall on Kate and Prince William’s shoulders.

The Queen has returned to light royal work since her health scare and overnight stay in hospital.

However, following her back injury forcing her to miss the service on Remembrance Sunday, Her Majesty may pass duties onto another family member.

As reported by The Express, Sandringham is the usual place for the royal family to spend Christmas but it has not yet been confirmed whether they will this year.

The royal family have gathered for Christmas at the private estate since 1988 with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex all attending.

The usual arrangements see the royals play parlour games and exchange presents.

Depending on the Queen, Prince William and Kate’s Anmer Hall on the Sandringham estate, could become the host of festivities if Her Majesty decides to rest.

Anmer Hall is seen as a perfect choice as it is close to St Mary Magdalene Church, where royals always attend a service on Christmas Day.

Once the service concludes, the royals can return to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's home for Christmas lunch.

The Queen worried royal fans earlier this week after being seen in photographs with purple hands.

The 95-year-old has already cancelled numerous engagements since her overnight stay in hospital but she was pictured meeting General Sir Nick Carter at Windsor Castle.

According to one doctor, there could be several reasons for the unusual colour of the Queen’s hands.

Speaking to Metro, Doctor Jay Verma of the Shakespeare Medical Centre in Leeds said: “It might be Raynaud’s phenomenon or just really cold hands.

"The purple is due to deoxygenated blood.”

Last year, the royal family were forced to stay at own households during the Christmas period due to the pandemic.
