King Charles allows nudists to get their kit off at one of his beaches

Naked tourists can proudly reveal their crown jewels on the beach after the King lifted a ban that prohibited nudity.

Full body tans are once again a possibility at the 1km stretch of sand at Fraisthorpe, East Yorkshire.

In 1994 the local council told visitors they must cover up their rude bits after a number of dogging incidents sparked concern.

But bare-bottomed visitors can once again feel free to roam in the nuddy after East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s lease was returned to the Crown Estate.

The new guidance on behalf of the King said although nudity was “not expressly permitted” it was “not prohibited” either.

Peter Whitehead, 67, is a naked rambler who told The Sun that King Charles is sensible for changing the rules.

He said: “Sensible people like King Charles realise there’s nothing wrong with simple public nudity.

“There should never have been a ban in the first place because doggers and naturists are not one and the same.”

Mr Whitehead, who is from South Milford, North Yorkshire, added: “True naturists are a sensible lot who take a pragmatic approach to situations. We are always mindful of potentially upsetting others.”

Fraisthorpe, has been owned by the Crown Estate since 1760 and was a designated nudist beach for 40 years before the ban.

But now the stretch is now popular with families and dog walkers.

Andrew Welsh, of British Naturism, said it was aware of the previous but that naturists were simply keen to “get an all-over tan in the company of like-minded people”.

It's not an offence to be naked in public in England and Wales but it does become an offence if it can be proved the person stripped off with the intention to upset and shock. The complainant has to prove this.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service "a balance needs to be struck between the naturist's right to freedom of expression and the right of the wider public to be protected from harassment, alarm and distress".

So technically you can sunbathe naked on any beach but sticking to designated nudist beaches is a more sensible plan.
