- He visited the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota earlier this month
- He has been on a media blitz promoting his book
Donald Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner had surgery a second time late last week to treat an apparent recurrence of thyroid cancer, a person close to Kushner said on Tuesday.
The news comes weeks after Kushner was spotted with wife Ivanka Trump in Rochester, Minnesota as they visited the Mayo Clinic for a check up on the status of his thyroid cancer.
A source told DailyMail.com: ‘He’s doing great and has been resting for the last few days but will be back at it soon.
Kushner is expected to make a full recovery.
At the time of the last visit, a source told DailyMail.com, ‘Jared has to travel there periodically for monitoring and testing to ensure his thyroid cancer hasn’t returned. Ivanka obviously travelled with him to offer support as his wife.’
The glamorous couple headed to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester for scheduled monitoring and testing to ensure the cancer had not returned
His latest surgery comes after Kushner publicly revealed his treatment for the first time in his new book, ‘Breaking History: A White House Memoir.’
He wrote that he had a similar surgery for thyroid cancer in 2019 while serving as Trump’s senior White House adviser.
News of the procedure comes after Kushner has made numerous media appearances for the book, although it also has been promoted heavily by his father-in-law’s Save America PAC mailing list.
During one of those interviews, on Fox News, Kushner wouldn’t commit to returning to the White House if Trump should take it back.
‘So for me right now, I’m enjoying my life in the private sector and loving the time with my kids,’ he said, after saying it was an ‘honor’ to work in the White House but also warning against a ‘career political class.’
Kushner, 41, and Ivanka were seen in Rochester, Minnesota, on Aug. 9. It was during that checkup where the need for the surgery was determined, according to a source.
Kushner has been putting a new focus on physical exercise now that he is able to put some of the long hours and stresses of the White House behind him, and expects to live a very long life.
He told former Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell on the YouTube channel LiveSigning: From the last year, the one thing I’ve tried to put a priority on since I left the White House was, you know, getting some exercise in.’
Kushner added: ‘I think that there is a good probability that my generation is, hopefully with the advances in science, either the first generation to live forever, or the last generation that’s going to die.’
‘So, we need to keep ourselves in pretty good shape,’ he concluded.
The American Cancer Society’s most recent estimates for thyroid cancer in the United States for 2022 are that there are about 43,800 new cases (11,860 in men and 31,940 in women).
