Learner caught driving with ‘dangerous’ pile of rubbish attached to roof of car

Baffled police stopped a "dangerously overloaded" pick up truck carrying a mountain of junk only to discover the driver was a learner.

The pile of furniture, appliances and even a bicycle was so tall officers watched it almost scrape the ceiling of a petrol station forecourt, BirminghamLive reports.

Despite no 'L' plates on show, the motorist pulled out a provisional licence when asked for their ID by officers taking a closer look at the accident waiting to happen.

Police shared a snap online of what left them scratching their heads at Stadium Garage in Pye Green Road, Cannock, Staffordshire on Sunday, March 28.

Photos of the black Mitsubishi Trojan were captioned: "Just when you thought you'd seen it all."

Pictures of the car showed a massive haul of wooden slats, plastic chairs, ripped-out radiators and even a bike was piled so high it almost grazed the roof over the petrol station forecourt.

Central Motorway Police Group, covering the West Midlands, said they had a call from Staffordshire Police to give "a bit of advice with this one".

"It was being driven by a provisional licence holder," an officer said.

The cop then followed the post with the hashtag "£dangerouscondition".

Social media users immediately began sharing the post.

One joked: "Don't know if I should be, but I'm impressed with his stacking and packing skills there."

And another said: "How the hell did they even stack this?
