SINGER Lily Allen has claimed that the world hates Britain because of its historical involvement in slavery after Prime Minister Theresa May launched her plan to exit the European Union.
Mrs May was promoting what she described as a "Global Britain" earlier today, but Lily was not impressed.
The Brexit-hating singer, 31, took to Twitter and told her followers: "A Global Britain could b (sic) good, but the world still hates us cause, SLAVERY."
However she then deleted the tweet after getting lambasted by social media users.
One told her to "go and read a history book", pointing out that slavery was a historical human problem throughout the world.
David Shipley told her on Twitter: "The world hates Britain for ending the slave trade? Hrm."
Another added: "Silly Lily at it again! Privileged and out of touch with reality!"
One user said: "She's completely mad. We were first country in the world to abolish slavery."
She was also described as a "privileged and detached troll".
However despite deleting today's post, just days ago she was ranting again about Britain's involvement in the slave trade.
Lily also caused fury last year for “apologising” for Britain’s treatment of migrants.
The singer took it upon herself to say sorry “on behalf of my country” to an Afghan teen trying to reach the UK.
The singer, who lives in a £2million home in trendy Notting Hill, wept as she told him: “I’m sorry for what we put you through.”
But the encounter, filmed at the Jungle camp in Calais for the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire Show, sparked a backlash.
Critics accused the star of trying to boost her flagging career.
Colonel Richard Kemp, a British commander in Afghanistan in 2003, said: “What is she doing there? She clearly does not have any understanding of the situation.
“The refugee is in a safe country and the French have an obligation to look after him. I find it enormously insulting. She does not represent us.”
