Longmont police confirmed on Monday that a body was recovered near Sandstone Ranch Park last week but they could not release any details until the Boulder County Coroner’s Officer shares its report on the investigation.
According to Longmont police spokesperson Robin Ericson, a man flagged a Longmont officer down about 5:15 p.m. Feb. 13. The man told the officer he thought he found a body south of Sandstone Ranch and took the officer to the location.
Ericson said the officer was in Longmont city limits when they were flagged down but she didn’t know the exact location of the body.
The Boulder County Coroner’s Office is investigating the identity of the body as well as cause and manner of death. Although Sandstone is in Weld County, Jolene Weiner, Weld County Coroner’s Office chief deputy, said in an email that the Boulder County Coroner’s office responded to the scene and had completed their investigation before realizing the location was in Weld County’s jurisdiction.
While authorities have not provided any confirmation, Bobbie Lee, the wife of a man who has been missing since September, wrote in a Feb. 13 Facebook post that the body were the remains of her husband, Saza Lee, in the Sandstone area.
Saza Lee, 54, disappeared after an evening bike ride Sept. 10 along the St. Vrain Greenway.
Bobbie Lee posted the update in a group called “Help Find Saza Lee,” which was created to coordinate efforts to try to find the missing man.
“I do not have a lot of information at this time and would like to have privacy and time to process and grieve,” Bobbie Lee wrote in the post. “Thank you to everyone for all the search efforts, time and prayers. (I)t has meant the world to me.”
Bobbie Lee declined on Monday night to speak with the Times-Call further about the situation.
