Madeleine McCann suspect Christian B CLEARED of abducting 'German Maddie’, 5, who vanished near paedo’s lair

MADELEINE McCann suspect Christian B has been ruled out of a missing girl probe in a hammer blow to investigators.

Convicted paedophile and rapist, 44, was identified last year by German police as the main suspect for Madeleine's abduction in 2007.

They said they had ''concrete evidence'' she was dead and have also linked him to a series of other child kidnap cases dating back several years.

But in a blow for Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry, prosecutors in Germany have now said he had nothing to do with the disappearance of Inga Gehricke.

The five year old was dubbed 'Germany's Madeleine McCann' and vanished in 2015 during a family picnic close to where Brueckner was renovating a derelict factory.

Despite five years of police appeals and a reward of 25,000 euros for information leading to her whereabouts, Inga has never been found.

Last night Christian B's lawyer Friedrich Fulscher told The Sun: ''The public prosecutor's office has thoroughly examined connections to the Inga case and determined there isn't even an initial suspicion against my client.''

POLICE PROBE

As part of the investigation the factory was searched and 8,000 images of children were found buried in a plastic bag under Brueckner's dead dog Charlie.

A lawyer representing Inga's family said Christian B stayed at the house in May 2015 and one day before Inga disappeared, police records placed him in a nearby motorway service station where he had a parking accident.

He is believed to have commuted by car between the property in Neuwegersleben and Braunschweig, around 35 miles away.

But Thomas Kramer, a spokesperson for the prosecutor's office in Stendal, told The Sun:''The investigation of Christian B regarding Inga's disappearance is currently closed.

''Police investigations have been conducted but they have not produced any facts to suggest that Christian B. could have abducted, abused or killed Inga. Therefore, even after this additional research, there was no initial suspicion against Chrisitan B., so that the preliminary proceedings were discontinued.''

The development comes just days after The Sun revealed how Brueckner's lawyer believes his client will ''never be charged'' in connection with Madeleine's disappearance.

In a bombshell interview he said:''He is under investigation and under suspicion. I have to assume that they do not have any concrete evidence. I think that's quite typical for us Germans.

''We think we are something special, at least in Europe, and think we can do things better than other nations. We will see if that is the case but I don't think so.''

Madeleine disappeared while on holiday in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz on May 3 2007. Christian B is currently serving seven years for the 2005 rape of a 72-year-old woman.
