Maine woman missing in Times Square found safe in Queens

The Maine woman who was reported missing after she was last seen getting into a car in Times Square was found safe in a Queens hotel on Friday, police and sources said.

Christine Hammontree, 29, was found unharmed in Long Island City Friday evening, and the missing persons case is closed, according to the NYPD.

Detectives identified the car she was last seen getting into with a group of people in Midtown, spoke to the driver, and found that Hammontree was staying at a hostel across the East River, police sources said.

The woman’s parents reported her missing in Falmouth, Maine on Tuesday. The investigation there was also dropped Friday evening, officials said.

Hammontree used to live in the city, but now lives with her parents in Maine. She was in the boroughs visiting a boyfriend, police said.

Her parents reported her missing when she did not return home from her New York trip earlier in the week, as they expected.
