Major lockdown around London Bridge station amid 'security concern' as cops & firefighters rush to scene | The Sun

A MAJOR lockdown is in place around London Bridge following a security alert – with cops rushing to the scene.

The roads around the central London station were shut off after reports of "fire and sparks" coming from a railway bridge – and the sound of an explosion.

Cops, firefighters and a Network Rail incident van are at the scene.

The London Fire Brigade confirmed that overhead sparks had caused an ongoing incident at the station – and that its drone team is attending the scene.

The Met Police said that it has cordons in place as a precaution while the LFB examines the railway line.

Eyewitness Sarah Cole said: "Much drama at London Bridge station as emergency services close off the road under the main railway bridge due to reports of 'fire and sparks' coming from the bridge and an explosion sound.

"I'm pretty sure it's just sparks from a tight turn and wet rails over a loud bridge.

"Never seen so many emergency vehicles appear so quickly.

"Tourists seemed very alarmed but locals totally unconcerned.

"Anyway, if that bridge is closed to trains it's going to really mess up a whole lot of train journeys, so good luck folks."
