A MAN has appeared in court charged with killing missing mum Madison Wright and dumping her body in a park.

Garry Bennett, 36, is accused of killing the mum-of-one, 30, between July 22 and July 25.

Her body was found in Wat Tyler Country Park in Pitsea, Basildon, on July 30 after she went missing a week earlier from her home in Basildon, Essex.

Gary Bennett, of Pitsea, appeared at Basildon Crown Court today accused of her murder.

Waring a grey issue prison outfit, he spoke only to confirm his name and address.

He was due to enter a plea, but Rhys Rosser, defending, asked the court for an adjournment.

A desperate search was launched to find Madison after she vanished on July 22.

On July 30, a body understood to be hers was found at the Wat Tyler Country Park.

The mum's car, a black Vauxhall Astra with the registration EU13 JVW, had been discovered just days before on July 26.

Wat Tyler Country Park was cordoned off from the public for several days and it was later confirmed the body found by cops was Madison's.

David Dadds, councillor for Basildon Borough Council, said at the time "I am saddened and devastated to hear of the news about Madison.

"I have known Madison since she was a child. 

"She was a caring, kind and gentle person and a loving mother. Madison leaves a void that cannot ever be filled.

"My thoughts & prayers are with her family and friends."

Another pal described the mum as a "really nice girl".

Four other people have been arrested in connection to the case.

A 27-year-old man and 54-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender in August, following two previous arrests for conspiracy to murder.
