Man, 61, arrested on suspicion of murder after body of woman found in water at Thames & Kennet Marina | The Sun

COPS have arrested a 61-year-old man on suspicion of murder after a woman's body was found in Thames and Kennet Marina this morning.

Officers charged to the boatyard on the outskirts of Reading, Berks., at around 10.30am following reports of a body in the water.

Thames Valley Police later confirmed a 61-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held in police custody.

There is a scene-watch in place at the moorings, which are in the Caversham area, while the investigation is ongoing at the boat .

Detective Inspector Richard Pickering said: “We are in the very early stages of this investigation, and although we have made an arrest, I would urge the public not to speculate on the circumstances of the woman’s death, which is being treated as unexplained at this time.

“Although the death is being treated as unexplained, we do not believe there to be any danger to the local community, and we are conducting a full and thorough investigation to ascertain the full circumstances of this tragic incident.”
