Man charged with murdering elderly mother using pot plant

A man has been charged after allegedly killing his elderly mother with a pot plant on the NSW Central Coast.

On Thursday, police were called to a home in Tumbi Umbi following reports of concern for the 82-year-old woman’s welfare.

Paramedics arrived on the scene about 5.15pm to find the elderly woman dead in the home with head injuries.

Police arrested a 56-year-old man at the home. He was taken to Wyong police station and charged with murder. He was refused bail.

Police will allege the man assaulted his mother earlier that morning with a pot plant.

He then allegedly left the home before later returning to call emergency services.

Police believe the pair lived at the property together. The son will appear at Wyong Local Court on Friday.
