A California man has been arrested for bludgeoning his co-worker to death with an irrigation pipe because the man was having an affair with his ex-girlfriend, and colleagues had made fun of him.
Jose Gutierrez-Rosales, 49, is accused of killing his co-worker, Hector Javier Vasquez, 56, on April 18 when the pair were working at a job site near Lamont, California.
‘We were there picking up the [irrigation] pipes,’ Gutierrez-Rosales told investigators. ‘I ate about two tacos, and I felt my body like strange, and then all of a sudden, I grabbed the pipe, and I just started going at him.’
As he was beating Vasquez with the metal pipe Gutierrez-Rosales told him: ‘This is for getting involved with my family,’ Newsweek reported.
Vasquez suffered multiple facial fractures, cuts to his face, back of his head, and lost several teeth during the fatal attack, according to KGET News.
At least one witness tried to tell Gutierrez-Rosales to stop the attack, and others later told investigators they could only see him from a distance and thought that he was attacking a snake, according to reports.
