Married couple deny killing toddler neighbour, two, in massive gas explosion

A COUPLE are facing trial after they denied killing their two-year-old neighbour in a massive gas explosion.

George Hinds died after the blast ripped through a street in Heysham, Lancs, last May.

Four others, including his parents Vicky Studholme and Stephen Hinds, were rushed to hospital after the horror.

Sharon Greenham, 51, and Darren Greenham, 44, appeared at Preston Crown Court today.

They both denied manslaughter with a provisional trial date set for October 4.

The Greenhams also pleaded not guilty to damaging a gas meter between January and May 2021 and theft of gas between March and May 2021.

They will next appear at the same court for a hearing on August 12.

Police confirmed in December the explosion was caused by a gas pipe that was cut at one of the homes.

Emergency crews were scrambled to the street in the early hours of May 16 to find two houses had collapsed and a third was seriously damaged.

Tragically little George couldn't be saved following the blast.

His parents, who were also injured, released a heartbreaking tribute to the toddler.

They said: "We are devastated at the loss of our beautiful George.

"He was so precious to us.

"We have no words to describe how we feel and just want time to ourselves to come to terms with what has happened.

“Our beautiful little angel grew his wings today.”
