The woman had been on her way home from the gym on October 20, in the city of Belem, when she was allegedly harassed.
Video footage recorded by another passenger on the bus showed the alleged victim, who practises Muay Thai and capoeira, placing the man in a rear chokehold.
A martial artist put a man in a choke hold while riding on a busy bus in Brazil on October 20 after he allegedly used a busy bus as cover to rub his genitals on her
The woman asked the bus driver to stop the vehicle at the next police station so that she could report the alleged incident
She can be seen gripping the man around the neck from behind, before slowly lowering him to the floor of the bus.
According to a police report, the man had allegedly tried to take advantage of the busy bus to rub his genitals against the woman from behind.
He even allegedly unzipped his trousers while committing the act, according to the report.
According to the news outlet O Liberal, the woman hit him in the nose before immobilising him by putting him into a rear choke hold.
She then asked the bus driver to stop at a nearby police station so she could report the incident.
The police have reportedly already identified the man in question and are investigating the case filed against him.
Video footage recorded by another passenger on the bus showed the victim, who practises Muay Thai and capoeira, placing the man in a rear naked chokehold
While maintaining the chokehold, the woman began lowering the man onto the floor to keep him in place
The victim has since complained about her fellow passengers’ reaction at the time, saying: ‘Nobody does anything to help. Today, people prefer to film than to help.’
She revealed she went through a similar experience on a bus last year, leading her to punch the suspect in question.
Though it was her love of sports in general that got her into combat sports, the woman said she opted specifically for Muay Thai and capoeira for reasons of self-defence, as reported in O Liberal.
If convicted of the crime of sexual harassment, the suspect could face between one and five years in prison, in accordance with Brazilian law.
In the most serious cases of sexual harassment, when the suspect uses violence or seriously threatens the victim, the suspect can be charged with rape.
