Disbarred lawyer Michael Cohen arrived at the Manhattan district attorney’s office on Friday — for his first in-person interview with prosecutors to help in their expansive criminal probe of the Trump Organization.
Former President Donald Trump’s fixer-turned-foe has already been questioned seven times by the office through video conferences.
Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty in 2018 to campaign finance fraud, tax evasion and other charges — in part for arranging hush-money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy pin-up Karen McDougal. Both women claimed to have had affairs with Trump before he entered the White House.
DA Cyrus Vance Jr.’s investigation — which began with the hush-money payouts and expanded into a probe of alleged insurance and bank fraud — has swung into full gear after the office won a hard-fought battle to obtain eight years of Trump’s tax returns and other financial records.
Cohen was released in May amid coronavirus concerns to serve out the remainder of his sentence in home confinement.
Vance’s spokesman Danny Frost and Cohen declined to comment. The Trump Organization didn’t immediately return a request for comment.
