A "miracle" dog has had an amazing turnaround after becoming severely paralysed and losing the use of his legs.
When Amanda Large got Shih Tzu Gizmo last year she was told the 13-year-old was bit slow on his feet due to suffering a back injury earlier in life.
But a few weeks later the poor pooch had lot all ability to move his back legs, wag his tail or have any bladder control, Belfast Live reports.
The animal's front legs also stopped working properly and he was unable to move at all, requiring constant care.
Amanda, from County Down, Northern Ireland, managed to get Gizmo back on his feet again thanks to holistic treatment for pets, despite vets telling her the best thing to do would be to put him to sleep.
Amanda said: "When I first got Gizmo I was told he had suffered spinal injuries and that he would be a bit slow and unsteady on his feet, but I never imagined just how badly his condition would deteriorate.
"After a few weeks, his back end became completely paralysed and he was unable to move his feet, control his bladder or even wag his tail.
"I managed to get Gizmo an MRI scan and discovered he had multiple problems with the discs on his back and I was told by a number of vets that the best thing to do would be to put him to sleep.
"I took him to Holistic Pet NI and I honestly cannot believe the results that we have had with his treatment, he is just getting better all the time."
The proud dog owner said that now Gizmo is walking again he has been in such a happy mood and is very proud of showing off his abilities and hunting around the house for food.
Amanda added: "It really is a miracle that he is able to walk again and you can see that it has made him so happy.

"Whenever he is walking around the kitchen looking for food, you can see how proud that he is that he is able to do this again. I always knew he was a little fighter but I never imagined he would be this strong."
Siobhan Menzies, of Holistic Pet NI, said she was amazed by how well Gizmo had done following his treatment and the improvements that he is continuing to make.
"It is miraculous the turnaround that Gizmo has had, we really cannot believe the progress he has made and is continuing to make.
"He is such a lovely dog that is a little character with a big personality and we are very pleased to see him doing so well."
