POLICE have said they are "extremely worried" for the safety of a dad missing for three days as it emerged he had all his hair shaved off on the day he vanished.
Marcus Shaw, 43, has not been seen since Saturday when his car was found abandoned in a country lane with his phone inside.
A helicopter, sniffer dogs and frogmen were drafted in to help the search today as cops described his disappearance as "completely out of character".
He had recently passed his HGV driver's test and had a job interview lined up today, according to reports.
Marcus left his home in Warrington, Cheshire, around 2pm on Saturday to go to the hairdressers ahead of a planned evening with his daughters.
He did not turn up but was later spotted in High Legh Road in Broomedge, near Lymm, around 4.30pm. His car and phone were found behind the Jolly Thresher pub in the village.
Marcus's former partner Amanda Bedford, 43, said she has been told he asked the barber to shave all his hair off, reports the Manchester Evening News.
She said: “He was supposed to be taking his daughters out on Saturday night and he never lets them down.
"He is a home bird. He likes his home comforts and we do not know why this has happened.”
Cheshire Police released a CCTV image of the dad of four today showing his new bald hairdo and the blue top he was wearing when he vanished.
Inspector Mark Gammage said: “It has now been three days since Marcus was last seen so we are obviously extremely worried about him.
“Our officers are continuing to search for him with help from the National Police Air Service, the dog unit, underwater search teams, a specialist search team from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and volunteers from the Cheshire Search and Rescue team.
“Although our focus has been in the Lymm area, Marcus is an experienced lorry driver who knows the country’s road networks so it is possible he could be anywhere.
“I’d also like to appeal directly to Marcus himself to make contact with us and let us know that he is safe and well."
