Moment couple spotted on CCTV 'swiping potted plants from pub' as landlady blasts 'scumbags'

THIS is the moment a pair of drinkers are spotted on CCTV appearing to smuggle a potted plant out of a pub.

In the toe-curling video, a man and a woman can be seen enjoying a drink before picking up one of the decorative plants from a nearby windowsill.

In the footage, which was shared by The Landsowne Pub in Cardiff, Wales, it appears that one of the pub-goers then slides the shrubbery under her coat.

A spokesperson for the pub said the couple had been "humiliated" after footage was seen by more than 45,000 people.

Bosses branded them "scumbags" and "low lives".

In the beginning of the clip, a man and woman – both in their coats – can be seen chatting and fiddling with a menu on a table at the CAMRA Pub of the Year 2014.

The woman, dressed in a green jacket, appears to pull her coat closer to her as she takes a swig of her drink.

Her male companion, wearing a baseball cap and puffer jacket, then leans back on his chair before moving one of the plants onto the table.

He then picks up the menu, which obscures the plant from view.

It appears the woman then slides the leafy green plant beneath her coat.

She then picks up her bag and heads out – while the man knocks back the last few drops of his drink.

He too heads out, and it is not clear if the plant was removed from the pub or later returned.

As he disappears, the plant that was earlier moved onto the table cannot be seen.

Taking to social media, a spokesperson for the pub branded the customers "scumbags".

The tweet, which appears to come from the award-winning boozer's official account, reads: "Got any room left in your coat for any more of our plants? #WhyDoWeEvenBother #Scumbags."

Quote-tweeting the message, Cerys Furlong – who is described as one of the three owners of the pub by the Western Mail – also branded them "low lives".

The Sun understands pub bosses will not be pursuing any legal action.

A spokesperson for The Landsowne Pub told The Sun: "We're not going to take it any further.

"They think they've been humiliated enough

"Plus it's not going to be a good look for the pub, is it?"
