This is the moment ingenious police officers used a drone to release a pigeon dangling from a power cable in Peru.
Video footage shows the officers in the capital city Lima taping a knife to the drone and cutting the string binding the bird to the high-voltage line.
Residents in the Barranca neighbourhood said the pigeon was stuck on the electric wire for more than 12 hours before it was freed on Monday.

It then cuts to a close up drone shot that reveals the pigeon’s talons are ensnared in string wrapped around the finger-width cable.

The police officers then carefully pilot the drone towards the trapped bird using an onboard live stream.
They slowly navigate the sharp blade towards the thread around the pigeon’s feet while concerned locals stand underneath holding out a sheet to catch the bird.
