MORE than 100 PlayStations were seized from paedophiles at the jail where Gary Glitter is being held.
It is feared the sick perverts were using the Sony gaming devices to trade abuse online and even to contact children on the outside.
Cons are banned from using the web in prison. But sources last night said a group of sex offenders had smuggled in tiny USB sticks to access the internet.
The raid took place last week in a massive intelligence-led operation at The Verne prison, near Portland, Dorset, home to paedo rocker Glitter.
Officers went round the cells removing every PlayStation in the jail, which houses only sex offenders.
A source said yesterday: “The officers swept through the cells taking every one.
“The devices will now be examined and any concerns passed to police.
“The suggestion is that the inmates may have been using the internet to trade inappropriate content, messages or even pictures relating to children.”
Tory MP Nigel Mills said: “This is a disgrace. It needs an urgent internal probe as well as the police investigation.”
It is is understood Glitter was not involved.
