Mother sprints across living room to intercept baby before she falls

Catch of the day! Amazing mother sprints across living room and dives full length to intercept her baby daughter before she plummets from sofa to the floor

  • Footage taken in Ocala, Florida, last month shows the toddler playing on a sofa
  • However at one point the child appears to try and sit up but loses her balance
  • Her pregnant mother then rushes over and dives to the floor to protect her head

This is the tense moment a quick-thinking mother dashes across her living room just in time to catch her daughter who is about to fall off a sofa.

Footage taken in Ocala, Florida, last month shows the toddler playing on the chair while the rest of the family can be heard in the next room.

However at one point the child appears to try and sit up but then loses her balance.

She then uses her natural instinct to try and sit back down again but because she is sat on the sofa backwards she begins to topple over.

Her mother – who is pregnant – spots her sitting the wrong way round and immediately rushes over to catch her by diving down onto the floor.

The fast-thinking mother managed to protect the child’s head and her own baby bump during the rescue.

Speaking after the incident the mother said: ‘Around Christmas 2020 visiting family, I, the pregnant mom in the video, watched my daughter periodically from across 2 rooms of my father-in-law’s house.

‘She was supervised by an uncle on the backwards couch as shown in the video, but you know how distracting TV can be. Easily understandable!

‘My husband walks through to another room to check on our other child, which led me to look back over at our daughter sitting backwards.

‘Knowing my daughter I knew she would sit back fully so instinctively, supervised or not, I ran as any mother would.

‘I caught her head just in time and tried to avoid landing on the baby bump. Luckily, everyone is safe and sound thank goodness!’
